How common is it for a person to have a specific learning disability?
Specific learning disabilities are very common. In the United States, “1 out of every 5 people has a learning disability. Almost 1 million children (ages 6 through 21)” (Center for Parent Information & Resources, 2015) has a specific learning disability and they are able to get special education resources to support them academically. A third of those students who get special education actually has a specific learning disability (Center for Parent Information & Resources, 2015).
